Behind successful fashion and lifestyle blog Simply by Simone, you’ll find Simone Piliero. You can either find her networking, running between Westchester and Manhattan, or creating some fire content for her blog. Between all of her projects, Simone still manages to find time to unwind from her busy life.
**You commute from Westchester to Manhattan and run a thriving blog. How do you keep everything balanced? **
Knowing when to put my phone down is important. Since so much of my blog work is done on my phone, it’s easy to always feel like I’m “on”. At night in bed, I try my best not to be near my phone and when I’m with my family on the weekends. Also, if I’m not working on my blog on the train, then I try to read or listen to a podcast. This helps me feel balanced.
**What inspired you to start blogging? **
I was the friend that everyone came to for fashion advice. I went to school for business and was looking for a creative outlet. When I was in-between jobs out of college, I decided to start my blog while I was working at Bloomingdales.
**How would you describe your style? **
**Are you more of a homebody or a go-out person? **
Both. I love hanging on the couch, but I am the type of person who needs to be doing something. Networking PR events after work or dinner with friends is my idea of a night out. So I’m definitely not partying! I’m a Libra so I really need my chill time and my social time.
**What are your favorite ways to unwind at home? **
The living room is where my family gathers. I love putting on some netflix and catching up with my family.
**Favorite pizza topping? **
Salad. Seriously! I love bacon, but I haven’t had that in ages.
What’s your favorite guilty-pleasure movie?
I am one of the few people who doesn’t like watching movies! When I left my job at Morgan Stanley to work at DVF, everyone referenced the Devil Wears Prada. I’ve never watched it. So does the Grinch count?
**Last question. What’s the first thing you do when you’re “finally home” from a long trip? **
Walk in the house, drop everything and chill on my Burrow!
